Silentnight Anti-Allergy Duvet UK Review

By  Enda McLarnon

This is our review of the Silentnight Anti-Allergy Duvet. This duvet has been bought by a lot of people, and because of that, there are plenty of reviews to go on. We have summarised all of those and hopefully that will save you some time, if you are considering buying this particular duvet from the popular Silentnight brand.

This duvet is available as a single, double, or in King Sizes. It is also available in four Tog ratings which are 4.5 Tog, 7.5 Tog, 10.5 Tog and 13.5 Tog. The lighter Tog rating is suitable for the British summer time, the 10.5 is ideal for Spring and Autumn and the 13.5 is perfect for the Winter months.

Many buyers though simply either buy the 7.5 or  the 10.5 tog rating and use it all year round.

How Buyers Rate the Silentnight Anti-Allergy Duvet

At the time of writing this review, there are over 22,000 buyer reviews, that we had the opportunity to read and understand. When we had done that, we put together a summary.

76 out of 100 buyers rated this duvet as a 5 star product. 92% in total rated this duvet as 4 stars or higher. At the lower end of the scale 2 of every 100 buyers rated these just a single star. The conclusion that you can draw from that, is that the huge majority of buyers, were very pleased with their purchase.

What Buyers Didn't Like About this Silentnight Duvet

If the percentage of 1 stars is low, we normally do not get that concerned. As you can see from the above information, that figure is extremely low at 2%. We had a quick look and this is what we found.

A couple of buyers said that it was too heavy. Another couple said that the seam had ripped and had to be returned. One buyer said that she meant to buy a 100% cotton one. The reality is that the complaints are truly very small, and as such, would not cause us any great concern.

What Buyers Did Like About this Silentnight Duvet

The huge majority of buyers thought that at around £22, this was excellent value for money. Silentnight are a well known brand, and they do make high quality bedding. So this combination of value and high quality certainly seem to be appreciated by buyers.

You can machine wash this duvet which I think is vital. You can also dry it in the tumble drier, so that makes keeping it clean, a very simple thing to do.

This duvet also comes with a 5 year guarantee which is excellent.

Silentnight Anti-Allergy Duvet Specification

For those who like more detail, then we have a specification below, on this highly rated duvet:

  • Available in 4 Tog ratings, 4.5, 7.5, 10.5 and 13.5
  • Available in a single, double, or King
  • 80/20 Polyester cover
  • Has an anti allergy hollow fibre filling
  • You can wash these in a washing machine, and also tumble dry
  • They come with a 5-year guarantee

This particular duvet has been made and is a great option for asthmatics and allergy sufferers. The fibre inside the duvet protects against dust mites and bacteria. Everyone wants to sleep under a clean and healthy duvet, however if you suffer from allergies or asthma, then we believe an anti allergy duvet is simply essential.

Allergy sufferers may be allergic to feather and down duvets, and even some fibre fillings. This one has the hollow fibre filling, and with regular washing really is an ideal solution.

What are TOG ratings?

TOG refers to the warmth of your duvet. The higher the TOG rating the warmer the duvet will be. TOG ratings range from 1-15, however in the UK the lightest available is 4.0 and the heaviest is 13.5 TOG.

Tog Rating

When to Use

4/4.5

A lightweight duvet to be used in the Summer months and keeps you warm without overheating

7.5

This is also a lightweight duvet suitable for Spring and Summer for those who prefer a slightly heavier duvet without overheating

9-10.5

This is a very popular choice for all year round use and saves you having to buy a separate summer and winter duvet. A throw or blanket can be added on particularly cold nights

13-13.5

This is a Winter TOG duvet for the colder months

For comfortable sleeping a bedroom should be between 18-21 degrees Celsius at night. If this is the case then a 9 to 10.5 TOG rate duvet is ideal all year around.

Our Verdict on the Silentnight Anti-Allergy Duvet

With an RRP of £28, this is we believe very good value for money. The duvet is sewn together in long stripes to help keep the filling in place, and prevent it from slipping to the bottom of the duvet.

The outer fabric is very soft unlike many duvets which have quite a scratchy feel to them.

The fact that you can also stick this in the washing machine, means that you can wash it as often as you want, and it will not lose its softness. You can also put it into your tumble drier.

This duvet is nice and light and yet if you pick the right tog rating for the right time of year, it will keep you very warm. Overall the reviews are excellent on this duvet, and there is no question that they rate this product very highly indeed.

If this is not the duvet for you, then why not check out our top 10 list of duvets.

Overall the buyer ratings on these are good, and the big majority of buyers like what they have purchased. You will struggle to find a duvet with a higher buyer rating than this one.
