By  Enda McLarnon

In this article we explain the best cleaner for oven glass doors. There are some tasks in this world that people detest. We are pretty sure that cleaning an oven door is right up close to the top of that list of things you don't want to do.

That said, once it is done, it is always nice to have a shining door in your kitchen that looks great. There are a few ways to clean glass oven doors and we will explain those below.

Before we do that though, it is worth taking just a few minutes to understand what type of glass is used in oven doors and what that matters when it comes to cleaning them.

What type of glass is used in oven doors?

The glass used in oven doors is tempered glass. This is glass that can withstand high temperatures and is four times tougher than normal glass. So when it comes to cleaning oven door glass, you are actually cleaning tempered glass.

The best cleaner for oven glass doors is to mix baking soda with water to make a paste, which is then applied to the door. Leave it on for 10 minutes and then wipe off. If you don't want to make a paste then commercial cleaners are available.

How to clean tempered glass used on oven doors?

List of Steps

1

Initial clean

Wipe away any loose bits of grime with a damp microfiber cloth -or very soft cloth

2

Baking soda

Pour some baking soda into a bowl and add water (3 parts baking soda to one part water)

3

Leave it to work

Using a soft cloth spread the paste on the inside of the oven door window all over.

4

Let it work

Ideally you should leave this for around 20 minutes

5

Wipe it dry

Using a slightly damp microfiber cloth wipe the glass until it is dry

6

Repeat

If required you can then repeat this process until you are satisfied.

For the correct cleaning paste mix most people use about 1/2 cup of baking soda and 3 tablespoons of water. Depending on the state of the glass you can leave this on for several hours if required if the glass is particularly dirty.
