Main Review
When you compare this model to other soup makers, then in terms of price, at under £70, this is around the average price on the market. It is a basic model and deliberately designed to be very easy to use both in terms of making the soup and cleaning up afterwards.
Making the Soup
All you have to do is prepare and chop your ingredients into small pieces. 1 cm chunks), and add a vegetable or chicken stock cube. Then place them inside the soup maker and fill with cold water and choose either the smooth or chunky setting.
(For best results add half a cup of water or stock to the soup maker before placing in any solid ingredients. The reason for this is that some ingredients have either starch and sugars in them, These may stick to the inside base of the jug if they are placed in direct contact, and the water stops that from happening)
The smooth setting takes 19 minutes and the chunky setting takes 25 minutes. Our top tip is to cut your ingredients to small sizes as that allows them to cook much easier.
The control panel has an LED countdown display that shows exactly how long your soup has left to cook.
The Clean Up
This soup maker has a non-stick coating making that makes for fast and easy cleaning a breeze. Once you are finished with the soup maker, rinse it under the tap, and then wipe it with a soapy sponge and your soup maker is ready for next time.

FAQ
Morphy Richards recommend using cold water as the soup maker will boil the water. However, many people will add a stock cube to hot water and dissolve that and then add it to the soup maker. So either hot or cold water will work.
The inside of the soup maker is made from food grade stainless steel and a non-stick coating has bene layered on top of that. The housing is made of plastic but that does not touch the food.
As we mentioned some ingredients contain starch or sugar. Any ingredient like that will stick if it comes into direct contact with a hot metal base. We would always recommend adding some water to the maker first, and then add the ingredients and then add the stock. If you use that method they will never stick.
The simple answer is as small as you can. If the chunks are too large then they just won't cook. 1 cm sized cubes are ideal and many people will use packets of frozen vegetables or ready chopped vegetables.
Morphy Richard Brand
We think before you buy something from a company it is always a good idea to know a little something about the company. First of all Morphy Richards are a UK brand based in Swinton Meadows, Yorkshire, England and they were founded back in 1936.
Donal Morphy was an electrical engineer and Charles Richards was a salesman who combined their knowledge and started this now well known company.
In the early 1970s they joined with Hotpoint, GEC, English Electric and dominated the UK market for millions of household products. Almost every home in the UK would have had some form of appliance made by Morphy Richards, be that a toaster or an iron.
They are now owned by the Glenn Dimplex Group who are an Irish based consumer electrical good firm who acquired them in 1985. They have continued to produce household appliances and as you can imagine are up against plenty of competition in this market.
